Short Form \ Long Form

Stories beget stories.

Here are some of the work I’m most proud of to share.

Lake Turkana

Produced for National Geographic, this one-hour documentary was a labour of love. I had full access to the leading scientific research & exploration Turkana Basin Institute and spent two weeks with a group of incredible scientists, including renowned paleoanthropologists Drs Richard and Meave Leakey, in Kenya’s northernmost lake. Also chuffed at the fact that I was the first person from my country to have ever visited the crocodile-infested Central Lake.

Venice

Produced for National Geographic for Season 2 of Access 360: UNESCO World Heritage Sites, I was the primary development producer for hour-long documentary. It tells the story of a sinking Venice and the expert teams of engineers, scientists and conservators who are determined to save the Floating City from vanishing beneath the waves.

Pico Iyer

Produced for Great Big Story, this sponsored piece by Raffles Hotel gave me the great honour to work with Pico Iyer, one of the world’s most acclaimed travel writer. Raffles Hotel gave Create full creative liberty to develop a personal story for the establishment’s reopening and through research, found out that the very first hotel that Pico stayed in was in fact, Raffles Hotel. Through numerous interviews, we developed his narrative for this delightful film.

A Hero in the Sky

A sponsored piece for Singapore Airlines, this was part of the airline’s latest marketing campaign. We featured Ann Sim, a former nurse who swopped her scrubs for the iconic kebaya. She volunteers her time as a medic while off duty as a Singapore Girl.

Seafood and Sake

The Japan Food Product Overseas Promotion Center had a simple message to deliver: Seafood and sake, when paired together, create magic. I reached out to Pepe Moncayo, who runs a fusion restaurant in Singapore marrying the best of Spanish seafood and the best of Japanese sakes. At the time of production, he was busy setting up his new restaurant in Washington DC so that was where we told his story.

Gojek

Back in 2015, before Gojek ventured out of Indonesia to go head-to-toe with Southeast Asia’s other leading on-demand multi-service platforms, I was eager to introduce to Gojek the idea of micro-docs for its established audience base. Gojek, at the time, was only producing ads and hyper-local content. This was the first of 5 micro-docs produced and was timed to launch on Indonesia’s independence day.

Asia’s Special Forces

What do you do when you need fresh content and have an untapped inventory? Repurposing and repacking content forms part of my skills. While I was Executive Producer at A+E Networks Asia, we needed new content to excite History Channel’s audience for a brand new drama on SEAL Team Six. Special Forces was a legacy series on History and I came up with the idea of bringing a Special Forces veteran into the studios to share insights and give his take on Asia’s Special Forces.
